Style | Mrs. Draper’s Look: Talking Banana Republic’s Latest Mad Men Collection on CTV

I haven’t yet caught up on Mad Men’s latest season. But Banana Republic’s latest Mad Men collection? That I’m up on. It’s the third of its kind and it’s inspired by the look of the new Mrs. Draper (who’s played by a Canadian actress, btw). Earlier this week I stopped by CTV Morning Live to talk all things Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce and spring.

But first, a little pre-show war paint (you’ll find my dissertation on what to wear and how to paint your face for television here.)

Let’s talk about these pants for a second. I can’t wait for real sunshine, but in the meantime cropped lemon-yellow trousers will brighten up days filled with spring showers.

And menswear. I’ve always loved it because the silhouettes change subtly each season and the tailoring remains classic, so the focus tends to be on texture and fabric. Two things I adore.

Then there’s this dress. It’s one of my favourite dresses from the Mad Men-inspired collection and it looks an awful lot like one worn by the new Mrs. Draper. The model also bears a striking resemblance to the new Mrs. D., doesn’t she?

And for something a little Mr. Draper-inspired, a skinny tie and slim-fitting textured cardigan. A look that’s as dapper as Draper can be.

Missed the morning segment, sleepyhead? Catch it online here. Thanks for having me, CTV, Banana Republic and Tara Parker Tait PR!

The Anthology’s Most Ridiculous Moments of 2012

If 2011 was the year of Miss America, friendly Sasquatches and granny nighties, then 2012 was all about psychedelic wine, chest hair and grown men singing “MMMBop.” Herewith, The Anthology’s most ridiculous moments of the past year.

9. The series I hosted for Vitamin Daily and Tourism Kelowna in which we treated wine-making with the stoicism it deserves.

8. The ridiculously fun Social Feed x The Anthology event where we wined and dined in support of Dress for Success Vancouver. The event sold out ridiculously fast — faster in fact than any Social Feed before it. You guys are the best! (Photos by superstar photographer Maurice Li.)

7. A trip to New York in which my girlfriends and I discovered just how far you can walk in 5-inch heels. (All the way across the Brooklyn Bridge, apparently.)

6. Then there’s the trip to Seattle in which my ladyfriends and I ate everything but cheesecake.

5. A lifestyle segment I did for PC Home’s Terra Gear on CTV in which host Aamer Haleem camped out on set.

Which brings me to number 4. Camping on the ridiculously beautiful Oregon Coast, where I failed miserably in my attempt at lumberjacking.

3. The fleeting moment in which photographer Barry Gnyp’s dog Lola agreed to pose for the Freedman Shoes SS/12 Campaign (which I directed) and the even more fleeting moment in which she posed exactly like the made-of-newspaper dog.

2. The time I scouted some of the best dressed festival goers at Coachella. And yes, this guy made the list.

1. Though really, for me, 2012 will always be the year I met Hanson at the PNE. Grown men singing “MMMbop?” Ridiculously irresistible.

Happy New Year, friends! See you in 2013!

Diary | Thank you, Timmy’s Telethon!

Well this is a feel-good story.

Last night, I co-hosted the social media desk at Timmy’s Telethon with Shaw TV’s Bianca Solterbeck. And man, was it fun. (Thanks, team Timmy’s, for letting me get involved!) But that’s not the best part. The best part is that over the course of the evening, British Columbia and the Yukon raised $6,118,620 for the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities.

My night started when the mobile makeup team from The Salon Beauty Bar turned my kitchen into a green room. (Thanks, guys!) It’s a newish service offered by makeup artists Angela and Sharifa (pictured) who will come to your home — provided it’s in Vancouver — and get you ready for a holiday party, wedding…

…or telethon. (Yes! Dramatic brows!)

Then I headed to Shaw Tower where I joined the madness on set. How many people were there on the phones, in the greenroom, in the producer’s studio? I have no idea but it felt like hundreds.

I took my place behind the social media desk with a running shoe-wearing Bianca (thank you, Instagrammers, for pointing that out!). That’s producer Peter Verge giving us talking points on the left and on the right: my friend and fellow blogette Alicia Quan, who was operating the tweet machine.

The stories we got to share blew me away. As did the donations that were pouring in. Six million bucks will go a long way to funding the important work of the BC Lions Society.

This verrrry serious crew? They were just on the social media side of things. I can’t even tell you how many people it took to pull this whole thing together (I had it easy — I just had to show up and talk). Thanks a million, team Timmy’s, BC Lions Society, Erin Shaw and Melanie Pineda, for having me!

Thank you | WE Vancouver

Thank you, WE Vancouver, for featuring this gal as your latest It Girl.

Read the interview to find out how I smell (like heaven), what I consider to be my most sentimental wardrobe item (my Justin Bieber concert tee is a close second) and what I like to drink on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings (here’s a hint: they’ll look at you like you’re crazy if you order one south of the border).

You’re the best, Kelsey Klassen!

Diary | Camping on a Budget on CTV Morning Live

Now that is the face of a happy camper. I stopped by CTV Morning Live yesterday to talk all about camping in style while on a budget.

If you’ve stocked up on camping gear lately, as I have, you know it can be a crazy investment. Unless you head to Superstore where PC Home has just launched a new Terra Gear Camping Collection. Of my picks, nothing — not even the tent host Aamer Haleem camped out in — costs more than $40.

And yet you’ll find everything you need to go glamping (glam camping). Except maybe a professional makeup artist.

Or a heated, sheltered set.

My happy camper secret weapon? A s’mores kit, which I could have used when I camped on the Oregon Coast a few weeks ago.

And some comfy clothes to wear as you’re roasting marshmallows on the campfire. My button-up shirt and slim-fit gold cords are both by Joe Fresh, my shoes are by Frye.

Exciting, right? Watch the segment right here.

Thank you, CTV Morning Live, Tara Parker Tait PR, Joe Fresh and Superstore!
