5. The angriest interviewer ever. I hosted a back to school style segment for Global Television and in it, judging by this shot, I was furious about back to school fashion. Why? Who knows. I have no recollection of this ferocity, only photographic evidence. In truth, the shoot was a blast, the clip is upbeat and the students are amazing. So this photo is just plain ridiculous.

6. A whole new meaning to “Shake your pompom.” Erika Renfrew has scouted many fashion shows and events for The Anthology. But of them all, this outfit from the Art Institute Grad Fashion Show has to be the most ridiculously, unexpectedly sexy. Honestly. A wired pompom skirt? Who’d a thunk?

7. The most ridiculous picnic spot ever. I can’t really describe how stunningly beautiful (and moderately terrifying) the British Columbia’s Bugaboo Mountains are. But I can tell you that the most ridiculously amazing experience I had this year was heli-hiking from a luxury lodge so remote it didn’t get cell service, but did have its own Swiss pastry chef. Alpine picnics beat sea-level picnics any day. And they’re especially thrilling when you’re keeping your eye out for grizzly bears. May I suggest you add it to your bucket list? Thanks again, Canadian Mountain Holidays!

8. The MC Hammer dance in some MC Hammer pants. I love a good “before and after” and you love a good “before and after”, but let’s face it, the “before” part is often the most ridiculous. Case in point: these printed palazzo pants, a gift challenge from my friend Sonja. She didn’t quite believe I could actually turn those hypnotic slacks into something wearable, but with a little tailoring magic they were transformed. Into what, you ask? These.

9. A not-so-invisible man in a fur jumpsuit. When photographer Braden Paul covered Sasquatch Festival for The Anthology this summer, he took some downright spectacular photos (one of which was runner-up in NME’s music photography awards). He also captured some of the ridiculous steeze of festival goers. In terms of fashion etiquette, this fur-clad gentleman’s bang-on, though. It’s only polite to show up to Sasquatch in Sasquatch after all.
Besides, have you ever seen a friendlier-looking Sasquatch? Trick question! I’ll bet you’ve never seen a Sasquatch before at all.

10. That time I made eyes at an invisible man wearing a fur coat. It’s the epitome of great television, really. I took TV host Melanie Pineda and her camera crew vintage shopping, I twirled around 14,286 times in the span of three minutes and somewhere in the midst of it all I shared a moment with a well-dressed invisible gentleman. Take a look.

10. Am I the only one completely obsessed with the fashion on Once Upon a Time? Not only are the princess gowns fairytale-worthy, the ‘real-life’ characters’ have some fantastic outfits, too. Main character Emma has a penchant for leather jackets, especially those from ocean drive leather, located in Vancouver. Love Emma’s signature red jacket, but I’ve my eye on the gorgeous camel one.

12. Michael Kors Quinn Clutch in Kiwi: I love the clean, modern lines of this clutch. The contrast of the soft vachetta leather goes well against the gold clasp, and the fresh color makes this easily wearable year-round.
13. Small crystal encrusted oval cup pendant necklace by Alexis Bittar: This one is my personal favorite – beautifully crafted and easily transferable from day to night.

I have long been a fan of Kermodi Living Art (don’t you think this would make the perfect office plant?).
So I fell hard for Kermodi’s understated, almost terrarium-esque ornaments at Vancouver Special. One of them is now nestled among the mason jars (used as tea light candle holders) and cake plates (used as candle stands) on the antique rolltop desk in my living room.
It’s all part of my new grown-up holiday decor initiative. Well, that, and my inflatable Snoopy Claus lawn ornament wouldn’t fit.
