But seems rather fitting for Oscar season, doesn’t it? The red lips, red nails, oversized pearls, sparkly diamonds and whatever those gigantic blue stones are — such outrageous glamour.

Let’s celebrate it, shall we? Gotta love Hollywood glamour. Especially old Hollywood glamour. Nothing today quite compares, does it?

Awards shows are all about the red carpet. The dresses, the jewels, the couples gossip. Too. Much. Fun.
Even with all the glamour and glitz of recent shows, there were some clear winners in the spectacular dress category. And the awards go to…

Michelle Williams at the 2006 Oscars in Vera Wang — makes me wish I could wear yellow (I can’t. I look like a zombie). Image found here.

Kate Hudson at this year’s Golden Globes in Marchesa — my favourite part about this shot? The umbrella. So Vancouver. Image found here.

Cameron Diaz in Dior by John Galliano at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2007 Costume Institute Gala in New York — the woman pulls off pink and turquoise without looking all prom-y. Photo found here.

Kate Hudson in Oscar de la Renta at the 2009 premiere of Bride Wars — like beautiful art deco architecture. Except it’s a dress. Image found here.

Drew Barrymore in Alexander McQueen at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2009 — love her, loved him (such a genius). Image found here.
So who’s going to be best dressed at the Academy Awards on Sunday? And how amazing are the hosts going to be? Steve Martin + Alec Baldwin = good television (did you see that episode of 30 Rock?).
Will you be watching for the dresses, the hosts or the movies?
I’d take you with me. But alas, I’m heading to the Riviera Maya without you.
The Anthology will still be updated regularly, it’ll just take me a bit longer to respond to your emails (theanthology@live.com) and tweets.

I’ll be sure to send you a postcard.

Kelly Green.

So bright, so spring-y, I will never stop loving it.

The leather bracelet? I DIY’d it myself. My jacket? It’s raw silk. Which is, you guessed it, another forever favourite.
So here’s mine: I want to amass a huge art collection. I want a collection so massive I have to keep half of it in storage. I want paintings and photographs and sculptures. Tons of them. Everywhere.
And I’m on my way (just look at my living room wall). But there’s always room for more.

So if I were in Vancouver this weekend I’d be at Hearts for Haiti bidding my, um, heart out on the 50 + pieces up for auction. Because that’s another one of my goals: support charity fundraisers.
Go! This Saturday (March 6th) at Pacific Palisades Hotel, 1277 Robson Street in Vancouver. For tickets and info: HeartsforHaitiVancouver.org.

After five events (six if you count the Opening Ceremony dress rehearsal), two gold medal winnings, and far too many veggie dogs, my Olympic adventure is over.

My favourite experience of the entire 17 days? It wasn’t watching the torch relay, or playing tourist in the city I grew up in, or admiring the Norwegian curling team’s pants. It was short track speed skating.

Never have I cheered so much or so loud (I lost my voice for the entire weekend).

Because we saw Charles Hamelin win gold in the 500m.

And watched his team win gold in the relay. Can you imagine how that must feel?

Two gold medals (and a bronze) on home turf. That was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
And I need another fix of the Olympics. How am I supposed to cure SOW? London? Sochi?
And I would look suspiciously like everybody’s favourite Olympic mascot…

Quatchi.

My coat is vintage faux fur from the Bohemia Gallery on Main Street in Vancouver. (I found the photo of Quatchi here.)

My lace-up boots? They’re Kenneth Cole. All I need is a red jacket and I would look like everybody’s favourite law enforcement officers… the Mounties.
until I head off to Mexico. And I could not be more excited.

The weather forecast calls for rain but I am a born and bred Vancouverite so I’m not going to let a little sky water stop me.

When I went a few years ago it stormed every afternoon for an hour. But that only added to the beauty of it all.

People pay big money to go storm-watching, don’t they?

Pun intended (sorry, it’s the worst).

But the skirt? It’s the best. Red leather. From Deluxe Junk in Gastown (Vancouver). And it’s perfect because it’s bright enough to cheer on Team Canada from kilometres away.

Wore it with this faux lambskin vest.

And my open-toed Sam Edelman boots. Because it’s practically spring in Vancouver and because they put a little spring in my step. Zing!
