Style | Back to high school!

Kelsey Dundon Style Segment

I loved school. I miss school. Everything about it — the new supplies, the locker decorations, the slurpees I used to get on my walk home; I look back on all of it so fondly.

Kelsey Dundon Back to School Trends Global TV

Then there’s the new wardrobe. I don’t remember any of my first-day-back looks, but I distinctly remember a silver headband I wore for grade ten. It was metal. It was shiny. It was painful AF (maybe that’s why it’s the only piece that’s seared into my memory).

Kelsey Dundon Global Back to School

Now, what I’m dying to know is: If you’re going back to high school on Tuesday, do you strategize about what will work best on Instagram, Snapchat or some other social site I haven’t even heard of yet? Or do you plan your outfit for the runway that is your school hallway?

Either way, I highlight three super-stylish trends for back to school in my latest Global TV segment, featuring looks from Forever 21, Old Navy and Guess.

Thanks for having me, Global TV and Metropolis at Metrotown! And thanks for your help, Jerome Insorio and Hayley Hudson!

P.S. Take a look at behind the scenes shots of one of my favourite back to school print shoots, and my very first back to school segment — which also happened to be my very first live segment ever.

Style | Fall’s new details

unnamed-5

This fall feels prettier than most. At least in terms of the clothes. The fabrics are luxe, the colour palettes are rich, the details are extra detail-y.

Kelsey Dundon Global Television Metropolis at Metrotown

It all makes for a lovely season, sartorially speaking.

Fall Trends Global TV

In my latest Global Television segment, I share three of the biggest trends you’ll find in stores, featuring looks from Club Monaco, Roots, H&M, Hudson’s Bay, and BCBGMAXAZRIA, all at Metropolis at Metrotown.

Take a look…

Style | Beautiful, beautiful fall trends

H&M handbag fall 16

It’s everyone’s favourite fashion season, isn’t it? Seriously, ask around. I’m willing to bet everyone will tell you they love fall the most. Maybe it’s the lingering effects of back-to-school outfits? Or maybe it’s the prospect of putting on clothes you’re not going to sweat right through five minutes into your day? Who knows.

What I do know is I’ve got a ton of beautiful fall pieces to share tomorrow morning on Global BC. Set your PVR, mom!

Style | Trends that travel

Kelsey Dundon at Global Television

I have a confession to make: I am by no means a sleek packer. I take the biggest suitcase I’m allowed and I stuff it with everything I could possibly need. So as my doctor once told me: do as I say, not as I do.

Kelsey Dundon Global BC Television

For my latest style segment on Global Television I talked trends that travel, featuring looks from Joe Fresh (at Superstore), Plenty, and Winners.

Take a look! Thanks for having me, Global Television and Metropolis at Metrotown! Thanks for your help, Jerome Insorio and Hayley Hudson!

Trippin’ | Las Vegas, Kind of

Polaroid Cosmopolitan Pool Las Vegas

If I went to Vegas for 24 hours, but didn’t leave the hotel once, can I still say I went to Vegas?

YVR

I flew there (without either of my babies, which was perhaps the highlight of the entire weekend!).

The Cosmo Hotel Las Vegas

Spent some quality time by the pool (not at the peaceful one pictured above, but the pool at Marquee Day Club, which was so crowded it looked like human soup).

Las Vegas Airport

Then flew home the next morning after a delightful in-room breakfast. It was pretty well perfect.

P.S. Trying to figure out what to wear to a pool/beach party? You’ll find a few ideas in my recent (blooper-filled) segment.

Style | Hit the Beach

Global Beachwear Wear It Well Kelsey Dundon

My segment at Global BC started out smoothly enough this morning.

unnamed

I brought three of my favourite sand-friendly looks from Old Navy, H&M and Swimco, pulled from their Metropolis at Metrotown locations.

Then it quickly turned into one long blooper reel. (I don’t think I have ever laughed as hard as I did the second we stopped airing!) Take a look…

Style | Totes summery

H&M Tasselled Tote Bag

Bright and early Monday morning I’ll be stopping by Global BC to talk beachwear — the kind of thing I’d love to be lounging in right about now. And you better believe this tasselled tote bag from H&M at Metropolis at Metrotown will be making an appearance. It’s totes beachy!

Pinstagram | Wrap it up

The Anthology’s Pinstagram column marries the dream (Pinterest) and the reality (Kelsey Dundon’s Instagram photos of places and faces in and around Vancouver).

Tshirt and jeans

Jeans and a tee. A graphic t-shirt designed for Easter Seals’ Woman 2 Warrior (which I’ve worked with many times before) + an even more casual take on the jeans a t-shirt look.

Castle

Hideaway. Her favourite spot + what would be my favourite spot to read and hang out.

Goop cookbooks

Goop read. My cookbook collection is rather embarrassing + a radish salad GP would totally approve of.

ornate

Wrought iron. A room divider at The Cross + ornate designs in Barcelona.

Wrapping and wallpaper

Paper party. A creative use of wrapping paper + a creative use of wallpaper.

P.S. There are more photos where these came from so follow @KelseyDundon on Instagram.

Style | Three of Summer’s Biggest Trends

Global TV Kelsey Dundon Summer Trends

What were you doing bright and early Saturday morning? Sleeping in? Well, you know what they say, you snooze, you lose…the chance to watch my trends segment live.

Kelsey Dundon Global Television Summer Trends

But no matter! My latest, featuring three of the biggest trends for summer (key colours, key silhouettes, and key-carrying handbags), is available right here.

Summer Trends Global BC

Featuring looks from Club Monaco, Aritzia, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Marciano, it made for a very summery start to the weekend. Take a look…

Cheers | Wild Vodka Lemonade

reese-witherspoon

I went about reading Wild in a very roundabout way, perhaps because I didn’t actually set out to read it at all. I saw the movie a while back when it became available on Netflix and liked it well enough. Then a few weeks back I was binge-listening to the Longform Podcast (one of my favourites) and was struck by the author Cheryl Strayed’s interview. It turned everything I assumed about the book on its head.

So I read it, loved it, was inspired by it. Not to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, mind you, but to toast to the sunshine.

Wybo and Lemonade June 2016

See, when I watched the movie and noticed a dramatic emphasis on Snapple Lemonade, I assumed that was product placement at its least subtle — I figured the book might have offhandedly mentioned lemonade once or twice and the movie capitalized on that by bringing on a Snapple sponsorship. And then I read the book and it sang the praises of that specific drink over and over again.

Which means the perfect cocktail pairing to go with Wild? Spiked lemonade. At my latest book club meeting (where we weren’t technically discussing Wild, but hey!) I brought vodka (thank you, Wyborowa!) and DIY lemonade: squeeze lemons, add a bit of sugar, then mix it up with a bit of soda and a shot of vodka.

It’s so simple, so delicious, so perfect for après an epic hike. Or at least reading about one.

P.S. Looking for another book/drink pairing? You’ll find a nice accompaniment to a Sandhill Merlot here.
