When I was in Paris

I stayed in a converted artist’s studio on Rue d’Amsterdam near the Place de Clichy (can I say I “lived” there? I was there for a month).

Every day I would walk through a gate that looked almost identical to this one, carrying my groceries, my school books or whatever I picked up from Printemps.

This shot from The Selby took me right back there. And makes me want to return to that pretty city. Bad.

You got to be in Paris for an entire month?! I was only there for a week…you lucky girl. I’d love to go back someday too.

mmm… a month is lovely but definitely can’t say you lived there.

Lisa — I’m with you. Would love to go back to Paris for sure. Soon, I hope!

Annabelle — How amazing would it be to be able to say you lived there? What’s the threshold, do you think? Three months in a city? Six?

One month in Paris? Impressive. You “lived” there if you were happy there.

Hope you kept the converted studio address.

were you there for school? i spent a month in HK last summer and it felt like a long visit. i spent a year in paris and at the time it felt like i lived there. the further away i get from that time the more it feels like i was just a visitor passing through. but i suppose it must be different for each person… either way, very fortunate, non?

Clarity — Was definitely happy there! Would be even happier if I were to go back there.

Annabelle — I was there for school, actually. A friend and I took French at the Sorbonne. Though I swear I learned more by going to French parties than by going to class.

Liv — I wish I still had the details, but the atelier actually belonged to a friend of a friend’s family friend. We fluked into it. And boy, were we lucky.
