In the beginning, there was the scarf. A gorgeous vintage scarf. And now it has become these amazing shoes.
Purchased at Te Casan in NYC (RIP), the broadway-dancer-wannabe-turned-sales-associate only had to utter the words “one of a kind” and I was sold.
Of course, it didn’t hurt that the proceeds from the scarf benefitted Oxfam, and that the line was designed specifically for Te Casan.
I could not be more proud.
Leroy graduated puppy school.
With flying colours.
Or, more specifically, get the Blocked Toyo Romanelli by Still Life. My pal (and colleague) Len sent in these shots of the handcrafted Trilby, which is available at Freshman in Vancouver.
“If I wasn’t such a nerd for bicycle safety,” he says. “I would cruise all summer in one.”

‘That’s the way I like it’ pretty much sums up why I love getting clothes custom made. I can get wool slacks that fit how I want them to.
Lined with just the right shade of fuchsia silk.
Simply because I want it that way.
without including my two favourite rings (k, fine: my two only rings). The band was designed with the help of my talented designer friend (you’re the best, Ben).
And the ruby was inspired by these earrings from Vogue.
Which one day maybe, hopefully will one day be mine.
When I fell in love with an illustration of a blustery fall day by my friend Michael Doehle, he silk-screened it into a men’s American Apparel t-shirt for me.
Though Bernie’s less interested in the shirt than the camera strap.
I love it so much I’ve hardly ever worn it because I never want to wash it (heaven forbid it shrinks). Is that so wrong?
Is there anything you consider too precious to wear?
Theatrical, really. Had these fine feathered headpieces custom made by Alice Hart.
Not really the type of thing you wear on casual Friday.
But definitely the type of thing you wear to the ballet.
Love how peacock feathers are the colour(s) of the ocean. Can you think of anything more beautiful?
I didn’t realize how much Leroy had changed until I stumbled upon this photo.
His ears were so floppy, his fur so fuzzy (and his paws so huge). Thought I’d include a shot of someone who still weighs 8 lbs.

And for years the man on the right has been making me smile.
Because I have his entire outfit. From the hat I bought in the men’s department of Century 21 in New York.
To the Hunter Wellies which came straight from Britain.
I am missing his cordouroy pants, but that doesn’t prevent me from feeling very Town & Country.
