That’s how I’ve heard these vintage dresses described. You know the ones — long and long-sleeved, often printed with some Aunt-Hazel print.
With a little hemming and a little layering they become perfectly wearable.
Come to think of it, I have a secretary dress in just about every colour.
Maybe I should change careers.
Doesn’t it?
Is it the leather vest? The just-below-the-knee skirt?
Or the fact that I give off a psychedelic vibe, man?

So bright, so spring-y, I will never stop loving it.
The leather bracelet? I DIY’d it myself. My jacket? It’s raw silk. Which is, you guessed it, another forever favourite.
So here’s mine: I want to amass a huge art collection. I want a collection so massive I have to keep half of it in storage. I want paintings and photographs and sculptures. Tons of them. Everywhere.
And I’m on my way (just look at my living room wall). But there’s always room for more.
So if I were in Vancouver this weekend I’d be at Hearts for Haiti bidding my, um, heart out on the 50 + pieces up for auction. Because that’s another one of my goals: support charity fundraisers.

After five events (six if you count the Opening Ceremony dress rehearsal), two gold medal winnings, and far too many veggie dogs, my Olympic adventure is over.
My favourite experience of the entire 17 days? It wasn’t watching the torch relay, or playing tourist in the city I grew up in, or admiring the Norwegian curling team’s pants. It was short track speed skating.
Never have I cheered so much or so loud (I lost my voice for the entire weekend).
Because we saw Charles Hamelin win gold in the 500m.
And watched his team win gold in the relay. Can you imagine how that must feel?
Two gold medals (and a bronze) on home turf. That was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
And I need another fix of the Olympics. How am I supposed to cure SOW? London? Sochi?
Pun intended (sorry, it’s the worst).
But the skirt? It’s the best. Red leather. From Deluxe Junk in Gastown (Vancouver). And it’s perfect because it’s bright enough to cheer on Team Canada from kilometres away.
Wore it with this faux lambskin vest.
And my open-toed Sam Edelman boots. Because it’s practically spring in Vancouver and because they put a little spring in my step. Zing!
I dig it.
I want those jeans.
