Style | Fall’s new details

unnamed-5

This fall feels prettier than most. At least in terms of the clothes. The fabrics are luxe, the colour palettes are rich, the details are extra detail-y.

It all makes for a lovely season, sartorially speaking.

Fall Trends Global TV

In my latest Global Television segment, I share three of the biggest trends you’ll find in stores, featuring looks from Club Monaco, Roots, H&M, Hudson’s Bay, and BCBGMAXAZRIA, all at Metropolis at Metrotown.

Take a look…

Style | Trends that travel

Kelsey Dundon at Global Television

I have a confession to make: I am by no means a sleek packer. I take the biggest suitcase I’m allowed and I stuff it with everything I could possibly need. So as my doctor once told me: do as I say, not as I do.

Kelsey Dundon Global BC Television

For my latest style segment on Global Television I talked trends that travel, featuring looks from Joe Fresh (at Superstore), Plenty, and Winners.

Take a look! Thanks for having me, Global Television and Metropolis at Metrotown! Thanks for your help, Jerome Insorio and Hayley Hudson!

Diary | Roaming the Streets with Surreal Theatre

Surreal Theatre Gastown Vancouver

The last show I saw in a theatre was Raffi (ha!). It had been a while since I’d been to the theatre theatre. Until last night, when I went to the theatre, it just wasn’t, you know…in a theatre.

Surreal Theatre is set in the streets of Gastown, a favourite neighbourhood among Vancouverites and tourists alike. Although the play isn’t just set there, it actually takes place there — on the sidewalks and crosswalks and action-packed alleys.

It started in a courtyard where the audience gathered alongside the actors…

Who needs red velvet seats? Surreal Theatre takes place on the streets in Gastown.

…and then we roamed the streets like a big theatrical tour group (snapping as we went) while the characters debated love, childhood nicknames and apps.

The show ended, much as it started, on the street. (Last night was the play’s premier so there was a ton of media in the 25-person audience, like Dana Gee, pictured above.)

Bauhaus Vancouver

Since we were on the outskirts of Gastown, we went for an after-show cocktail at Bauhaus, something I definitely did not do after that Raffi show.

Thanks for having me, Surreal Theatre!

Style | Cool workwear for hot summer days

Kelsey Dundon Global Television

Getting dressed on hot summer days is all fun and games until it comes to the work week. It’s hot during your commute and scorching on the patio after hours, but it’s freezing cold when you’re sitting under the AC vent in your office.

Kelsey Dundon Global BC

This morning I brought three looks from Michael Kors, Banana Republic and LOFT to help you get through both extremes. (I’m wearing Zara and Aldo, with a linen skirt I bought in Ireland.)

Style | When it’s hot outside but freezing inside

Michael Kors bag and shoes

I remember being taught that when heading out to the mountains, you should bring clothes for every weather possibility because you never know what you might encounter. Turns out the same rules apply when it comes to summer workwear (just with less fleece and Gore-Tex) — when it’s scorching hot outside, it can very well be freezing in your office so your outfit better do double duty.

Tomorrow on Global BC Morning I’ll be sharing a few looks that will help you survive both the heat and AC. Set your PVR, mom!

Talking about | Back in the saddle

A collaboration with Canadian Tire.

Kelsey Dundon with bike

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a bike. Years, in fact. Almost five of them to be exact.

Bike details

And I’ve missed it.

Because Canadian Tire and I go way back, they sent me a bike (thanks, team!) from their brand new WOW Guide, which you can check out here. Or, if you’re feeling futuristic, check it out on the super techy Canadian Tire app (downloadable at the App Store) and get access to even more products (like, say, my bike) that you can order directly and pick up at your nearest Canadian Tire store.

Kelsey Dundon lean on bike

I wish I could tell you I picked this particular cruiser because it has seven speeds, a clothes-saving fender and blah blah blah bike specs, but the truth is I picked it because I liked it.

The caramel seat, the white tires, the Portlandia-approved bird — they spoke to me. I added a bell, a basket and a helmet (because bike accessories are accessories too).

KD bike ride

Et voila! Turns out it’s just like riding a bike.

Style | Wear It Well, Wedding Edition

Kelsey Dundon Global Television

The only question more daunting than what to wear in a wedding? What to wear to a wedding! Too formal and you’ll be uncomfortable, too casual and you’ll look like you didn’t put in the effort. Drama rama!

KD at Global 750

So for my latest instalment of Wear It Well on Global Television, I compiled three ensembles to wear to three different types of weddings, featuring looks from Aritzia, Aldo, Joe Fresh, Call It Spring and Le Chateau at Metropolis at Metrotown.

Style | Pretty/Rugged

unnamed-11

Imagine what your most artsy friend would pack for a weekend away. Then imagine an entire collection inspired by your artsy friend’s vacation wardrobe. You’ll find that collection at the newest location of Scotch & Soda (the first in BC), which just opened up at Richmond Centre, and is filled with silky striped overalls, tropical bomber jackets and some serious denim.

KD Scotch & Soda blouse and jeans

My picks? A soft, polished blouse and a pair of super-distressed skinny boyfriend jeans (thank you, Scotch & Soda!).

Clutch square

A look that would be perfectly finished off with an oversized polka dot clutch…

…and a spritz of something citrusy.

unnamed-12

Then there’s the menswear! Oh, the menswear! I am a big, big fan. (I actually included some men’s Scotch & Soda in a recent segment.)

unnamed-10

So grab your most artsy friend and start packing for the weekend.

P.S. The Scotch & Soda rep who hosted me told me she did her final school project on The Anthology. Hi Jessica! I’d totally give you an A+!

Style | #OOTD

The last thing I do before I do a segment is put my ringer on mute and pass my phone to whoever’s standing closest to me. Often that person is Jerome Insorio, who’s not only a super talented stylist, but also an impressive photographer.

unnamed-7

Whenever I get my phone back there’s always some candid shot with magical lighting and interesting cropping, like this.

My dress is from Anthropologie, the shoes — which are made in Italy! — were a Winners score.

Style | What to wear to a wedding!

Blue suede shoe

Tomorrow morning (that’s Monday, April 25th) around 8:35 or so I’ll be on Global BC sharing my picks for what to wear to a summer wedding — whether it’s at the beach, in a park or a more formal indoor affair. I’ll even include a little something blue, like this lovely shoe.

See you in the morning!

P.S. Congratulations, Yvonne, on scoring $200 to Canadian Tire’s WOW guide!
