This time, coupled with my Mountie jacket, my vintage men’s plaid shirt feels much more polished. My jeans? They’re Mynk.
And yet again, I’ve matched my nail polish to my jacket. And yet again, I did not mean to.
I suppose it means I’m drawn to vibrant colours. They’re like a ray of sunshine on a rainy fall day.
to carve the pattern of this skirt into a pumpkin?
You’d need more skill with a carving knife than I have, but I swear you could make it look almost identical.
My necklace? I made it.
My boots? They’re Kenneth Cole. And they’re exactly what I’d been looking for. Don’t you love when that happens?
Oh, Halloween, how I love you so. The candy, the costumes, the carving (pumpkins). I know I say this about every holiday, but Halloween, you really are my favourite.

It’s a fun game to play — which pieces did you find at a thrift store in Vancouver and which did you find at Printemps in Paris? Answers: Dior scarf from Paris, thrifted belt from the ‘Couv.
Speaking of low/high — this dress once had a much lower hemline, but it felt far too heavy (even for fall) so I had it raised.
The wishbone belt buckle makes me so excited for American Thanksgiving. (Yes, I celebrate all the Thanksgivings North America has to offer.)
The Givenchy tights? They make me kind of excited to dress for cooler weather. But only kind of.
Could this be my frumpiest “before” shot yet? There’s some very close competition, but I’m gonna to go out on a limb and say this is the frumpiest vintage dress I’ve ever tried to transform into something I’d actually wear.

I bit my tongue for weeks (felt like eons) but now that the 1st anniversary issue of Contra Magazine has been published, I can finally tell you it features Vancouver’s style set (and me! Without my head cropped out of the photos!).
I dare you to scroll through the issue and tell me Vancouver doesn’t outshine the other cities. It’s all thanks to Paul Melo of StyleQuotient whose gorgeous photos made our city sparkle (get it? I’m wearing sequins!).

Leroy’s happy place? The dog park. Which is where we took him for his first birthday last week. Happy birthday, baby beast!

And also, that she flew to Rome a lot. Because it just seems like something she would do.
I met up with Paul Melo of Style Quotient yesterday for a project he’s working on. I’ve been sworn to secrecy but because I’m the worst secret-keeper in history (seriously — ask me what I’m getting you for your birthday), I thought a little sneak peek wouldn’t hurt:
On my wrist are my pirate bracelet, my husband’s vintage Omega watch and two beaded necklaces that I bought (from the cutest kid) in Turkey.
