Pinstagram | White dresses and watermelon onesies

The Anthology’s Pinstagram column marries the dream (Pinterest) and the reality (Kelsey Dundon’s Instagram photos of places and faces in and around Vancouver).

Park and Fifth Co

Wear white. Trying on bridesmaids dresses at Park & Fifth Co. + a dress that would be like wearing a cloud.

Baby pink

Baby pink. Learning to crawl (on the kitchen floor, no less) + the sweetest, summery-est outfit ever.

Kissa Tanto

Brass tacks. The beautifully decorated Kissa Tanto + a set of lights I could see fitting in beautifully there.

Dining room

Dining set. Elsa and Anna joined us for my book club brunch + a loft where I wouldn’t mind hosting my own brunch.

Olive Oil Cake

Homemade. Quite proud of my olive oil cake (so easy! so delicious!) + a berry crumble I’d love to test.

North Shore and Mountains

Trail running. Racing through the North Shore Mountains as fast as her short legs would carry her + a mountain lake I’d love my legs to hike me to.

P.S. There are more photos where these came from so follow @KelseyDundon on Instagram and Snapchat.

Style | When styling becomes shopping

Plenty shoes

Often when I’m pulling for a segment I have tunnel vision — I am looking for such specific pieces to fit such a specific story that I don’t even consider the fact that I could technically buy the pieces I’m pulling. I compartmentalize things; I’m never shopping when I’m styling.

So this, this is rare. These shoes would fit so perfectly into my lifestyle, so beautifully with my wardrobe, that I am very tempted to get them. They’re from Plenty at Metropolis at Metrotown, by the way. More on my segment (it’s all about trends that travel) coming up!

Wear/Where | 1980s cool, 1970s glam

Gucci Loafers

black brass chairs

When it comes to foolproof colour combinations, few are as glamourous as black and brass. The 1970s knew it, the 1980s knew it, and now, my friends, we’re getting to know it once again. Sure, it feels understated as an accessory, but boy does it feel bold as part of your decor.

Wear: Black loafers with brass detailing, like those by Gucci as seen on @deborabrosa.

Where: Farrah dining chair, as seen in the Create & Cultivate offices.

Diary | Roaming the Streets with Surreal Theatre

Surreal Theatre Gastown Vancouver

The last show I saw in a theatre was Raffi (ha!). It had been a while since I’d been to the theatre theatre. Until last night, when I went to the theatre, it just wasn’t, you know…in a theatre.

Vancouver fountain

Surreal Theatre is set in the streets of Gastown, a favourite neighbourhood among Vancouverites and tourists alike. Although the play isn’t just set there, it actually takes place there — on the sidewalks and crosswalks and action-packed alleys.

It started in a courtyard where the audience gathered alongside the actors…

Who needs red velvet seats? Surreal Theatre takes place on the streets in Gastown.

…and then we roamed the streets like a big theatrical tour group (snapping as we went) while the characters debated love, childhood nicknames and apps.

The show ended, much as it started, on the street. (Last night was the play’s premier so there was a ton of media in the 25-person audience, like Dana Gee, pictured above.)

Bauhaus Vancouver

Since we were on the outskirts of Gastown, we went for an after-show cocktail at Bauhaus, something I definitely did not do after that Raffi show.

Thanks for having me, Surreal Theatre!

Trippin’ | Las Vegas, Kind of

Polaroid Cosmopolitan Pool Las Vegas

If I went to Vegas for 24 hours, but didn’t leave the hotel once, can I still say I went to Vegas?

YVR

I flew there (without either of my babies, which was perhaps the highlight of the entire weekend!).

The Cosmo Hotel Las Vegas

Spent some quality time by the pool (not at the peaceful one pictured above, but the pool at Marquee Day Club, which was so crowded it looked like human soup).

Las Vegas Airport

Then flew home the next morning after a delightful in-room breakfast. It was pretty well perfect.

P.S. Trying to figure out what to wear to a pool/beach party? You’ll find a few ideas in my recent (blooper-filled) segment.

Style | Hit the Beach

Global Beachwear Wear It Well Kelsey Dundon

My segment at Global BC started out smoothly enough this morning.

unnamed

I brought three of my favourite sand-friendly looks from Old Navy, H&M and Swimco, pulled from their Metropolis at Metrotown locations.

Then it quickly turned into one long blooper reel. (I don’t think I have ever laughed as hard as I did the second we stopped airing!) Take a look…

Thank you, Global BC and Metropolis at Metrotown, for having me! Thank you, Jerome Insorio and Hayley Hudson, for your help!

Style | Totes summery

H&M Tasselled Tote Bag

Bright and early Monday morning I’ll be stopping by Global BC to talk beachwear — the kind of thing I’d love to be lounging in right about now. And you better believe this tasselled tote bag from H&M at Metropolis at Metrotown will be making an appearance. It’s totes beachy!

Bookmark | Black Cardigan

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

Well this is a departure. Most (okay, all) of The Anthology’s Bookmarks are heavy on the visuals — the column is like one long love letter to blogs by graphic designers. But this, this is something different. This particular Bookmark pick is light on imagery and heavy on well-written text.

Carrie Frye’s Black Cardigan is a newsletter that covers everything from Mr. Darcy’s sweaty curls to Cher Horowitz’s trendy-again chokers. It’s funny, literary and topical in such an offbeat way. Like Longreads, Lenny and goop, it’s a newsletter I’ll actually click on (what more can a newsletter ask for?) and it definitely deserves a space in your inbox.

So subscribe to Black Cardigan already. And bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

Pinstagram | Wrap it up

The Anthology’s Pinstagram column marries the dream (Pinterest) and the reality (Kelsey Dundon’s Instagram photos of places and faces in and around Vancouver).

Tshirt and jeans

Jeans and a tee. A graphic t-shirt designed for Easter Seals’ Woman 2 Warrior (which I’ve worked with many times before) + an even more casual take on the jeans a t-shirt look.

Castle

Hideaway. Her favourite spot + what would be my favourite spot to read and hang out.

Goop cookbooks

Goop read. My cookbook collection is rather embarrassing + a radish salad GP would totally approve of.

ornate

Wrought iron. A room divider at The Cross + ornate designs in Barcelona.

Wrapping and wallpaper

Paper party. A creative use of wrapping paper + a creative use of wallpaper.

P.S. There are more photos where these came from so follow @KelseyDundon on Instagram.

Style | Three of Summer’s Biggest Trends

Global TV Kelsey Dundon Summer Trends

What were you doing bright and early Saturday morning? Sleeping in? Well, you know what they say, you snooze, you lose…the chance to watch my trends segment live.

Kelsey Dundon Global Television Summer Trends

But no matter! My latest, featuring three of the biggest trends for summer (key colours, key silhouettes, and key-carrying handbags), is available right here.

Summer Trends Global BC

Featuring looks from Club Monaco, Aritzia, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Marciano, it made for a very summery start to the weekend. Take a look…

Thank you, Global Television and Metropolis at Metrotown, for having me! Thanks, Jerome Insorio and Hayley Hudson, for your help!
