At the opera

With all the vintage furs and brooches and shawls at the opera (are they considered vintage if you bought them  new 40 years ago?), this dress begged to be worn.

I got it at Deluxe Junk in gastown last summer.

And had it shortened significantly so I could wear it in LA.

P.S. Rigoletto was absolutely incredible.

You want it?

You got it. A couple of you told me (in no uncertain terms) that you want to see detail shots of the shoes from this post and the belt from this one. Who am I to deny you?

Once upon a time

This shirt was a dress. I don’t have a before shot, but if you imagine what a hip grade four teacher would have worn in 1985, you get the idea.

My favourite thing about it? The tie-up sleeves.

This mirror’s from the Cross in Vancouver, by the way. The shirt/dress is from Deluxe Junk in Gastown. And the YSL belt is from Crossroads in Seattle.

Neon salmon

That’s how my sister described the colour of my vintage skirt.

I don’t know how my cat Getty would describe it.

But I do know she’s not happy that I woke her up from her nap.

Outrageous or not outrageous?

Either way I love the ruffles. Found this bad boy at the vintage mall in Seattle.

Will be getting it altered (so technically this is a “before” shot) but I think I’ll leave the sleeves exactly as they are.

Take a look at the other dress I found that day here.

I can’t decide

if this is a “before” shot or not. I found this dress at the Vintage Mall in Seattle and I may very well end up leaving it exactly as it is.

If I do end up going to Sasquatch at the Gorge this summer (and I really hope I do), this dress will be coming with me.

The perfect Seattle day

For me, that means raiding the Vintage Mall in Fremont (more on that later), getting cardamon ice cream at Molly Moon’s in Wallingford (I’m not even an ice cream gal  — it’s just that good).

And eating dinner at How to Cook a Wolf on Queen Anne Hill (seriously — since when is spaghetti the best dish in the world?).

I love a good “after”

Loved this dress when I first got it. Love it even more now that I’ve had it shortened.

The boots are my sister’s. As soon as she left for Thailand (or wherever she is right now) I raided her closet.
