The Drop Zone!

I am terrified of heights. So, so terrified of heights. And the thought of doing rappelling off a 20-storey high rise makes me nauseous.

But I try to live by the law of Tina Fey: “Say yes and you’ll figure it out afterward.” So when my friends at Easter Seals asked if I wanted to do The Drop Zone this year, I felt like I was going to be sick and then I said yes.

Funds from this adrenaline-fuelled event support two causes close to my heart: Easter Seals Camps, which are fully accessible sleep-away camps for children with disabilities. And Easter Seals House, a supportive place where families can stay while their little ones receive care at BC Children’s Hospital.

#YogaRunParty

It had been a long time since I’d run regularly. Like a looooooong time. Years. And lots of them. But after working with Easter Seals on woman2warrior I was inspired and motivated enough to attempt Lululemon’s SeaWheeze Half Marathon which I’ll be running very soon.

Have I been training hard? Depends who you ask. Will it take me a ridiculously long time to finish? Yes!

But with my running buddy (pictured above) waiting for me at the finish line I’ll survive.

P.S. I’ll tweet from the starting line so follow @TheAnthology on Twitter.

The making of a legend

People always ask if advertising is like Mad Men. And it’s not. At all. (For the most part.)

For one thing, I don’t have a bar cart in my office. But maybe I should get one, if only to display one of my recent projects.

Designed by AKA and written by yours truly, these bottles for Legends Distilling‘s Shadow in the Lake vodka…

…and Doctor’s Orders gin turned out beautifully.

In fact, I think they might just outshine everything else on your (office?) bar cart.

Thanks for bringing me on board, AKA! Cheers!

Style | BTS for BTS (behind the scenes for back to school)

People seem to either love being in front of the camera or behind it. I’m a fan of both. I’m thrilled when I’m able to talk about what I love in studio and I have a ton of fun obsessing over every detail at a photo shoot when I’m creative directing and styling. I feel very lucky to have opportunities to do both.

A few days ago I styled a series back-to-school trend spreads filled with outfits for the elementary school set. This outfit (fit for a leopard cub) is complete with faux leather detailing, and available at The Children’s Place at Brentwood Town Centre.

The spreads (like these behind-the-scenes pics) were shot by photographer Kevin Hill. And I can’t wait to see the finished product, which I’ll share soon!

P.S. Photo shoots are totally grammable so follow @KelseyDundon on Instagram.

Etsy is the besty

Tomorrow I’ll be on The Rush sharing a few of my favourite made-in-Vancouver picks from one of my very favourite sites Etsy. These white-and-gold baby mocs by First Prints make the cut. And boy would they look cute on my little monkey’s feet.

Style | Trend Presentations at Metropolis at Metrotown x KLOUT Spring Social

In my Digital Communications Classes at SFU I talk a lot about Klout (it’s a social media measurement tool, mom). And in the rest of my life I talk a lot about trends. So it felt like worlds colliding when I gave a series of spring trend presentations at Canada’s first ever Klout event, held at Metropolis at Metrotown the other night.

The event had a serious floral theme so I showcased some of my favourite floral prints, like this tropical-print chambray men’s button-up (from Plenty.)

And a few other biggies like California-inspired menswear (from Plenty), washed-out pastel leather jacket (from Danier), distressed overalls and bold prints (from H&M and Costa Blanca).

All of which were pulled together with the help of my lovely assistants Amy and Amy (and Margarita, not pictured).

Thanks for having me, Metropolis at Metrotown and Klout!

Sportsmanlike conduct

Sports ain’t my thing. But I love a good athletic-inspired look. The spring trend spread I styled for The Province is filled with some of my favourites. It’s one of eight in a series I worked on. You’ll find some behind-the-shoot shots here.
