In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

I’m cheating with this Bookmark pick. Because I’ve actually featured HealthFoodSnob before, back when it was just an Instagram feed.

But as of this week, it’s also a blog. So I figure it deserves a repeat feature. Besides, it’s run by my sister and she cooks and bakes for me a lot so I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that keeps happening.

With that, my friends, allow me to introduce you to HealthFoodSnob the blog (which my sister built in Squarespace and she’s been raving about that platform almost as much as she’s been raving about her Vitamix).

It’s stocked with recipes that are good for you, tasty and completely unpretentious. So bookmark HealthFoodSnob already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

The making of a legend

People always ask if advertising is like Mad Men. And it’s not. At all. (For the most part.)

For one thing, I don’t have a bar cart in my office. But maybe I should get one, if only to display one of my recent projects.

Designed by AKA and written by yours truly, these bottles for Legends Distilling‘s Shadow in the Lake vodka…

…and Doctor’s Orders gin turned out beautifully.

In fact, I think they might just outshine everything else on your (office?) bar cart.

Thanks for bringing me on board, AKA! Cheers!

Food | My Sister the @HealthFoodSnob

Ugh. Health food snobs are the worst. Unless they make you chocolate peanut butter pies and more almond milk smoothies than you can shake a bag of nuts at. My sister is one such health food snob. In fact, she’s the @healthfoodsnob on Instagram, sharing photos and recipes of meals that are delicious, nutritious and often ambitious (at least by my lazy chef standards).

Drink it in, friends!

Diary | My 12 Days of Entourage

Party season is the best season. After Jackson-Triggs  sent me a case of their Entourage Sparkling Wine (thanks, guys!) I brought bottles of cheer with me everywhere. And I’ve got the pictures to prove it. Clockwise from top left:

A special delivery.

My nose-less face, before a night of party-hopping and bottle-popping.

Adding some raspberries and calling it a cocktail.

Making mandarin mimosas by hand (totally worth the effort, by the way).

Sparkling wine-infused caramels, custom-made by 1up caramels.

Toasting the $5.3 million raised on Timmy’s Telethon.

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

‘Tis the season for a lot of things — shopping, parties, baking. Lots and lots of baking. ‘Tis a bit of the top. So switch it up with some unbaking. As in raw vegan desserts using recipes from This Rawsome Vegan Life, a beautifully photographed Vancouver-based blog whose desserts use no sugar, eggs, or butter. And they’re good. I promise.

And easy. I swear. At least these lemon coconut squares are — they’re the only one of the desserts I’ve made myself (my sister made me a million others. Thanks, Riss!). I’m sure the healthy meal recipes are delicious too, but that’s not what this season is about, ’tis it?

So bookmark This Rawsome Vegan Life already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

Wear/Where | High Style and High Tea

Dressing up is the name of the game right now. Then again, there’s something to be said for staying home and curling up with a fresh pot of tea. Maybe you should do both — have a piping hot cuppa while dripping with your finest costume jewels. Why not?

Wear: Chandelier earrings available only at the Vancouver-based online boutique Shut Up I Love This.

Where: Handmade Danish-style teapot from Paper and Clay on Etsy.

Drink it in | Santevia’s Pink Flask

I hadn’t thought about pH since grade 11 chemistry class. And all I remember is that it has something to do with litmus paper. Now here I am drinking alkaline water (which has a pH of 9+ for those of you who remember what such things mean). Why? Because it tastes good, the flask (c/o Santevia) has a fancy lid and there are many rumoured health benefits. Plus, during October, Santevia is donating half the proceeds from this pink flask to Rethink Breast Cancer.

A Sweet Little Pop-up

I have a serious sweet tooth. How many times have I tried to cut sugar out of my diet? I don’t even want to count.

Thankfully I’m not attempting any of that nonsense at the moment. Made in small batches right here in Vancouver, 1UP Caramels look seriously delicious (shout out to the pear cardamom!) and they’ll be having a pop-up event at The Barefoot Contessa on Main Street every weekend in August. The thought gives me a big sweet-toothy grin.

You’ll find the details here.

Pinstagram | Sunshine, stripes and sangria

The Anthology’s Pinstagram column marries the dream (Pinterest) and the reality (Kelsey Dundon’s Instagram photos of places and faces in and around Vancouver).

Earned stripes. My favourite striped Topshop maternity dress and a shirt that would look great on my baby girl once she outgrows all her onesies.

Faster than a… The world’s speediest (and blurriest) Jack Russell Terrier puppy and another kind of speedy beast, this time in wallpaper form.

Good enough to eat. A gourmet bakery-made Pop-tart from Vancouver’s Bigsby the Bakehouse and gilt Oreos.

Mirror mirror. A quiet corner of my living room (lamp from Pottery Barn, mirror from The Cross in Vancouver) and stunning(ly expensive) mirrored pitchers.

Sunshine in a bucket. A bunch o’ daffodils outside Quince Fine Florals and a bushel o’ apples turned into sangria.

Flower power. An orchid fit for my desk (thanks Nick and Shevawn!) and a floral bikini fit for the beach.

P.S. There are more photos where these came from so add The Anthology on Facebook.
