Diary | Lunch at Hawksworth with Tiffany & Co.

2012 will mark Tiffany & Co.’s 175th birthday. That’s right, all you math whizzes, the jewelry giant was founded in 1837.

Will their birthday cake look like this? Maybe. These Tiffany-inspired sweets were served as dessert at a holiday luncheon hosted by Tiffany & Co. at the Hotel Georgia’s Hawksworth Restaurant.

It was, needless to say, delicious. But the, um, jewel of the meal? Pasta with chestnuts. I can’t get enough of those little gems this time of year.

Tomorrow, Tiffany will open its second store in Vancouver — and only the fifth in Canada — at Oakridge Centre. Which means Vancouverites will now have a choice in where they’d like to try on million-dollar engagement rings.

P.S. If you’re in Vancouver, I’m hosting yoga with Vitamin Daily at Exhale Studio in Yaletown this Thursday (December 8, 2011) 8:30-9:30am! Come with — it’s free! There are only a few spots available so grab your yoga mat and RSVP to rsvp@vitamindaily.com

Diary | Banana Republic’s Holiday Style in the City

Holiday parties, people! I can’t get enough of them. This week, the team from Vitamin Daily, Anya from I’m the It Girl and my very blue self hosted a party at Banana Republic on Robson.

And I just have to tell you how much I love these things. Not only because I get to talk leopard print and sequins (see above left) but because I get to see so many of your bright, shiny faces IRL (that’s “in real life,” mom). And I get to play dress-up in a gorgeous cobalt number. Can you guess where my dress is from?*

Plus, there are cupcakes, lots of sparkly holiday goodness and makeovers by the lovely BeautyMark makeup artists. (I left with Essie’s Bobbing for Baubles nail colour, a dark blue-y grey that’s the same colour as Vancouver’s night sky.)

‘Twas quite the night!

*If you guessed Banana Republic, you guessed right! And if you guessed Banana Republic’s Monogram Collection, you guessed extra right! Man, you guys are good at this game.

[Thanks to Leila Pejman for that incredi-blur Instagram shot.]

P.S. There are more photos on The Anthology’s Facebook page so hop to it and tag your face!

Style | Miss America at Joseph Ribkoff

The delightfully charming Miss America walked the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week’s Joseph Ribkoff show last night.

And I just about lost my mind because she WORE HER CROWN!!! Which, I discovered, you are not allowed to try on unless you are actually Miss America. (Turns out being Cap’n Canada doesn’t count.)

P.S. I am loving the feedback and poetry you guys are dishing out in The Anthology’s reader survey. Thanks a million! Keep ’em coming!

Diary | Art. Design. Fashion. Music.

By Erika Renfrew

Here are a few of my favourite things: fashion (obviously), music, art and now, blogging. So put all of these things in one funky loft-like setting and voila! Paradise.

The evening celebrated the A.D.F.M. store launch, an online lifestyle shop that blends art, design, fashion and music under one seriously creative roof. Founder (and super cool lady) Michelle Wong emphasizes culture, community and under-the-radar talent.

Coffee table books were spread about, including a complete moustache grower’s guide (Movember anyone?). With art on the walls, shoes on the table and a DJ spinning all evening, the A.D.F.M. team created a really cool vibe.

A.D.F.M. stands for Art, Design, Fashion and Music or “A Design For Me”. Clever, huh? This online oasis even offers the help of personal stylists. Bringing culture and inspired living to your home, I spent the evening making a mental list of must-haves. Go on, take a look…

Diary | Vancouver International Film Festival

35091Three cheers for film festivals! The minute I got back to Vancouver I picked up my VIFF media pass and jumped straight into the film fest fun.

Last night was the premier of Nash, the Documentary (thank you Tiffany and the Donnelly Group for the invitation!). Even I found the story of Canada’s favourite basketball star fascinating, which is high praise coming from someone who’s never sat through an entire b-ball game in her life.

Another favourite? Patang, the story of six people whose lives intertwine during India’s biggest kite festival.

The film is so beautifully shot it makes me want to go to India. Like, right this minute. Patang was featured at Berlin and Tribeca and had its Canadian premier at VIFF, where it will be showing again this afternoon.

Then this weekend I’m off to the closing gala. Can’t wait! Have you seen any of the films? Which did you love most?

P.S. Shout-out to my friend Shevawn who designed the Vancouver International Film Festival artwork. Holler!

P.P.S. You’ll find a few more of my VIFF picks on Vitamin Daily.

Diary | Contemporary Art Gallery’s 40th Anniversary

If you asked me how old Vancouver’s Contemporary Art Gallery was, I would have guessed… oh, about seven.

And I would have been very, very wrong. Because it just turned 40.

I stopped in for (I hate to admit) the very first time yesterday to join them for the anniversary festivities.

And I fell head over heels — not just for the gallery, but for one of its current exhibitions by Corita Kent. I would love to see her bold bright pieces on my walls.

P.S. I would like to see you on The Anthology’s Facebook wall.
