Not here, mind you. But in Australia. Where one of my favourite magazines (Vogue Living Australia) features Kelly Wearstler‘s gorgeous L.A. home.

So, ah, any interest in making over my little Vancouver bungalow, Kelly?

Unlike my sister-in-law Jaclyn, who has her jewelry neatly displayed, I strew my rings and things all over the house.

Responsible? No. But now that I’ve got a bunch of oyster shells to store them in, my little piles of jewelry are so much more interesting.

‘Tis the easiest thing in the world: I found oyster shells on the beach, cleaned them off, boiled them (to take out the ocean funk), et voila.

Makes me wish I wore more pearls.
It’s true. Or at least it can be. If you pick a pretty little plant and beautiful container to build a tasteful terrarium (sounds so science-y, doesn’t it?).

You can make these (almost) self-contained ecosystems yourself. The best part? You rarely have to water them. Sign me up!

until I saw this, one of Apartment Therapy’s 5 Great Architects Offices.

But heck, I’d consider becoming a mathematician if it meant I could work in a space like this.
No, not that Hermès, but the Swiss-made typewriter: the Hermes Baby.

I’ve never used it — in fact, I’m not even sure the ribbon has ink — but I find the idea of a typewriter so romantic.

The best novels, after all, were written on one.
would be full of clothes the colour (and, ideally, flavour) of macarons.

I found this image on the beautiful Lolita blog, which I think you might just fall in love with.
or maybe it’s the raspberry stairs — either way this looks like home to me.

Served homemade ice cream sandwiches for dessert last night.

And when I say homemade, I really mean “home assembled” because I bought the cookies, put a scoop of store-bought ice cream between them and then shoved them in the freezer for an hour or so. It’s the kind of dessert I love (thank you, Elisa, for introducing me).

Dressed the table cheaply and cheerfully.

With sea urchin bud vases I found at The Cross.

But the biggest hit? The caprese salad — the easiest, delicious-est salad in the world. If you want a recipe for the balsamic reduction you can drizzle on it, you can find it here.
I absolutely love finding out what inspires other people. Me? I’m inspired by magazines, beautiful photos, gorgeous workspaces and other people’s mood boards.

The clippings and cut-outs and collages and collections — they’re all absolutely fascinating. The one above is from Apartment Therapy.

The fish is my favourite part of this Lanvin mood board (photo from The Selby). Who knows how it might swim its way into a collection.

Though sometimes it’s just about capturing a certain spirit, or mood, if you will. Which I think the leather camera case does perfectly in this mood board by J. Crew’s Frank Muytjens (photo from the New York Times).

And then there’s my own desk, which for years has housed the clipping of the old man — it makes me laugh because I own everything he’s wearing. Except for the corduroy pants.
What inspires you? Say the Anthology and I’ll love you forever.
how the bookshelf that I painted as I roughed up my jeans turned out?

Well, it looks a little something like this.

And on top of it I put three of my favourite table lamps. The closest is from the Cross, the second was a gift and the skinny one is from Ikea.
