Two thumbs up (not exactly the most unbiased review ever)

So they’re my baby brother’s band. The WZRDZ, my favourite band ever, put on a ridiculously magical live show. Have never laughed and danced and then kept laughing and dancing as much as I did when they played Lucky Bar in Victoria this weekend.

wzrdz-concert

Wore my husband’s vintage Vancouver shirt, my vintage eel-skin bag and more bracelets than you can shake a wand at.

wzrdz-lucky-barDidn’t rock my Gryffindor cape after all and I got reprimanded by a gentleman in a Harry Potter costume because of it (I won’t let you down next time, Elliott.).

boots

Also wore my favourite boots. A few of you were asking where I found them (Nordstrom, last year) but I did see a similar pair by Sam Edelman at Freedman in Victoria this past weekend.

I also got a little crafty with my vintage jean jacket and sewed on a couple patches (the one above I found at Rugby in New York).

I know you’ve been sewing badges on things since you were in Brownies but I’m not as crafty as you are. Nor am I as magical.

Hocus pocus, friends, I cannot wait ’til the WZRDZ play Vancouver!

yeah for WZRDS – sounds like fun!

hooray also for patches – they rule. like that one on the shoulder you got. I remember sewing these on EVERYTHING when i was in highschool – backpacks, cardigan sweaters, hats. Best way to personalize, besides bedazzling anyways.

Nadia — watching someone you know perform is the best thing ever, isn’t it?

Liv — thanks for reminding me. I wonder if my ma still has my bedazzler in storage.

Bruce — can’t wait to see videos from the show!

Naaz — thank you! Can’t wait until they play in Vancouver.

Sofia — gotta love eel skin, baby!

Now that you mentioned it, I’ll definitely sew on some patches in one or a couple of my denim jackets. I kind of get bored of them at times so yes, patches will definitely do the trick.

you look way too cute. i love it. what kind of music does your bro’s band play? are they available for download?

Leah — customizing a jacket with patches (or elbow pads, which I just added to a tweed jacket) makes it feel new and exciting, doesn’t it?

Gerri — if only I had any sort of musical talent to really rock out

Frank&Remy — I found that little star patch at Dressew in Vancouver

    Alinka — thank you!

Cafe — vowels are so last year, aren’t they?

Dapper -red is the best colour for accessories, isn’t it?

Haute — thank you for passing on that award! You’r too kind!

Bri — thanks for adding me to your blog roll! Loooove your blog!

Erin — The WZRDZ are electronica dance rock (hilarious, but true). Don’t think they have anything available for downloading yet, but I’ll let you know when they do!

For those interested in watching some hilarious live fantasy themed electronica, you can check out the following youtube channel.

I would suggest House of Jealous WZRDZ, Biocybersaurus Rex, Super Techno….
