The making of a legend

People always ask if advertising is like Mad Men. And it’s not. At all. (For the most part.)

For one thing, I don’t have a bar cart in my office. But maybe I should get one, if only to display one of my recent projects.

Designed by AKA and written by yours truly, these bottles for Legends Distilling‘s Shadow in the Lake vodka…

…and Doctor’s Orders gin turned out beautifully.

In fact, I think they might just outshine everything else on your (office?) bar cart.

Thanks for bringing me on board, AKA! Cheers!

Style | BTS for BTS (behind the scenes for back to school)

People seem to either love being in front of the camera or behind it. I’m a fan of both. I’m thrilled when I’m able to talk about what I love in studio and I have a ton of fun obsessing over every detail at a photo shoot when I’m creative directing and styling. I feel very lucky to have opportunities to do both.

A few days ago I styled a series back-to-school trend spreads filled with outfits for the elementary school set. This outfit (fit for a leopard cub) is complete with faux leather detailing, and available at The Children’s Place at Brentwood Town Centre.

The spreads (like these behind-the-scenes pics) were shot by photographer Kevin Hill. And I can’t wait to see the finished product, which I’ll share soon!

P.S. Photo shoots are totally grammable so follow @KelseyDundon on Instagram.

Bookmark | My Scandinavian Home

In The Anthology’s Bookmark column we explore some of the most inspiring places on the wild, wild web.

If you, like me, can’t get enough of painted hardwood floors, sparse furniture, high ceilings and a certain eclectic rusticness, then you’ll love My Scandinavian Home.

Named one of Domino.com’s top design blogs of the year, it’s filled with beautifully curated photos drawn from all over the decor-loving internet.

The aesthetic is one I love — a little shabby and old, a little sleek and new. It’s as cool as it is warm.

With angled ceilings, lots of sheepskin and the occasional Ikea piece, it’ll reinvigorate your appreciation for white walls. So bookmark My Scandinavian Home already and bookmark The Anthology while you’re at it.

[Images from My Scandinavian Home, naturally.]

P.S. Beef up your list of favourite links with The Anthology’s Bookmark picks.

Put a Pin in it | Kid & Coe

The Anthology’s Put a Pin in it series does what it can to fuel your obsession with Pinterest.

I love the concept behind Kid & Coe — it’s like airbnb but with baby gates, high chairs and toy chests.

I haven’t yet stayed in any of their homes but boy, do they make me want to pack up the playard and trek across the globe.

Their Pinterest boards are as beautiful as their homes.

And some of them are quite cute to boot.

So put a pin in Kid & Coe and The Anthology too.

The Rush | Made in Vancouver

I joined Fiona Forbes on The Rush to share some of my favourite made-in-Vancouver picks — from home decor to beauty to fashion to kids’ wear, all of which you can find on Etsy.

Featuring:  Recover Me Design linens,  Love My Local cheese boards, Strathcona StockingsOh Kuol jewelry,  RED and Dandy bowties,  Amore Natural beauty products,  Mabel Retro kids’ wear,  First Prints MocsCity Creations puppets.

Thanks again for having me!

Pinstagram | Royal blue, royal jewels

The Anthology’s Pinstagram column marries the dream (Pinterest) and the reality (Kelsey Dundon’s Instagram photos of places and faces in and around Vancouver).

Got the blues. A shirt (from Club Monaco) that matches your grandma’s couch and an icy blue Swedish room.

Veggie love fest. Brunch at the Bird’s Nest and shaved asparagus salad.

Killer view. The scene outside SFU’s harbour campus and the camp spot of my dreams (which reminds me of one we had on the beach in Oregon a few years ago).

Ring ring bling. Jewelled iPhone cases (from H&M) which I featured in a trend series I styled for The Province and a pair of sparkly earrings.

Picture this. Behind the scenes of a shoot I styled and a more traditional, but no less dreamy, workspace.

Crown jewels. A lace-looking necklace (from Plenty) and a royal beauty.

P.S. There are more photos where these came from so add The Anthology on Facebook and follow @KelseyDundon on Instagram.

Etsy is the besty

Tomorrow I’ll be on The Rush sharing a few of my favourite made-in-Vancouver picks from one of my very favourite sites Etsy. These white-and-gold baby mocs by First Prints make the cut. And boy would they look cute on my little monkey’s feet.

Wear/Where | Jungle Print

It’s a jungle in your closet. And on your wall. Or at least it should be. Lions, tigers and leopards (oh my!) look grrrrrrrreat in abstract prints and muted shades. Meow.

Wear: Balmain lion-print top.

Where: A mural that would look just as fierce in your office as it would in a nursery.
