So I went to The Bay

And normally the story would end there. Except this time I wasn’t buying socks.

I was perusing See by Chloe, McQ and ADAM at the launch party of the Vancouver flagship store’s new White Space, hosted by FASHION Canada.

Seriously. The Canadian institution best known for their blankets is now a force to be reckoned with. That second floor feels Holts-esque, Nordstrom-like.

In other words, if you need new socks, you’ll have to go elsewhere.

P.S. There are no socks on The Anthology’s Facebook page either, but you should add it anyway.

I know! The Room at The Bay in Toronto is great for inspiration and definitely feels like you’re in an upscale boutique!

Can’t wait to see The White Space at The Bay! From what I can see of your outfit, it looks really cute. I love how you mixed the different fabric textures xo

The White Space Launch Gala on October 5th at the Bay in Vancouver fell flat…was pretty uneventful, uninteresting and unsuccessful! The event planners along with the company corporate types need to take a crash course on how to advertise, plan and execute @Successful Party! Where were the crowds, where was the excitement that the night was suppose to promote! People were talking about the lack of good entertainment and food not about the fashion. Nothing about the updated floor plans..nothing about the designers…bland and boring. The buzz from bloggers in attendance… they didn’t get the word out! At one point I was expecting to see fashion roadkill on the catwalk…from the awkward looking models skittishly making their way down the runway. The Bay can’t seem to get it right or escape their old fashioned tacky, tarnished image. They are destined to follow in the shadow of Holt Renfrew, Leone’s and other great fashion retailer’s in the industry! But I may still shop their for my socks…

ADAM is from my hometown! A good friend of mine works for his store here – it was supposed to be a pop-up store for a couple months but is still going strong! She also got to go to his recent show for S/S ’11 collection. And awesome belt.

I love the White Space’s look. It’s more contemporary than Nordstrom. I’m even more looking forward to The Bay’s new department ‘The Room’, opening Fall 2011 in Vancouver. Balmain, Ungaro, Alaia, Roland Mouret, Halson, Comme des Garcons… I’m going to be in HEAVEN! :)
