Short over long, part two

Unlike the time I hemmed a dress so short I had no choice but to turn it into a shirt, this time “short over long” refers to my sleeves.

Which are short over long. Aha!

I’m all over vintage jackets like this one. Especially since big shoulders mean big fun (thank you, Eighties!).

And then there’s my jeans, which can be short or long depending on how I cuff them. Speaking of, how do you keep your cuffs from un-cuffing? Double-sided tape? Iron? Staples? Please share!

i have no idea about the cuff problem b/c i have the same issue. they keep rolling down! i wonder if it’s to do with the type of material too. whatever you do, avoid safety pins!!

love it! if i haven’t mentioned already, i also love your brown boots.

as for the cuffing… i haven’t had much trouble with my jeans un-cuffing, but have in the past used tiny safety pins – even though i see live is cautioning you against it… lol – i’ve never been stabbed with them though if that is the concern here…?

hm…double sided tape between the folds?

I love your outfit! esp the short over long with the green and navy colours. I love the buttons on that jacket and of course, your boots!

I usually wear jeans that are more narrow in the calf; I guess skinny jeans, and usually they cuff up pretty nicely, otherwise double-sided tape seems like a good way to go without having to poke holes through your jeans!

If you go the double-sided tape route, I’d try the Hem Tape from Bristols 6. I did a review on it a few weeks ago and it holds fairly well: http://highmaintenancewoman.blogspot.com/2009/10/product-review-bristols-6-double-stick.html

Ooh cropped sleeves over long ones–I’ve tried this in the past too. It’s fun when the longer sleeve is in a contrasting colour or pattern, isn’t it?

Hmm the only jeans I cuff are my Banana Republic straight/skinny ones and the cuffs don’t come undone. I try to make the cuff folds as sharp as I can during the process…dunno if that will help.

I think my favourite part are the buttons on the Jacket.

I had a dream last night I went vintage shopping and I couldn’t find any jackets. Actually.
    My dreams concern me haha.

    Amazing outfit. So good.

Loving this look on you. As for the jeans cuff issue– do let me know what works for you– I usually either fold near the natural hem or way above it– right at the hem tends to crumple, I believe… Also, using jeans with a stiff denim would be best for cuffing.

    rad jacket!

I suggest ironing each time you roll a cuff, and then the finished cuff.
