Is it possible?

Could this be my frumpiest “before” shot yet? There’s some very close competition, but I’m gonna to go out on a limb and say this is the frumpiest vintage dress I’ve ever tried to transform into something I’d actually wear.

The surprising “after” shot can be found on one of my very favourite blogs DreamSequins, where I’ve written a guest post.

Thank you so much, D, for having me!

wow kelsey, such a small world! i saw you in contra and recognized you from the arbutus club, i’ve met you there before with ted. i believe i’ve also harassed you for an internship before, through ashley! and now here i am on your lovely blog, tres cool. I like how you too like to chop up dresses and revive them. I’m all about similar alterations, I can’t do much more that a straight stitch so everything I attack usually ends up shorter and short-sleeved. anyway have a fabulous weekend! take care.

Awesome transformation! There’s actually a similar vintage-esque dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs that reminded me of the the first shot. If only they knew what more you could do with it…

Do you do your own alterations?

I’m off to check out the after pictures – I’m sure you’ve come up with something gorgeous, as always! :)

I’ve already commented on D’s blog about this, but I must say that if I saw this in a vintage store, I’d walk the other way. Which is why you’re way better at seeing the potential of outfits than I am, because I do adore the altered version. But then again, that probably explains why you’re working on the creative side of things and I’m in account management ;-) Hope you’re having a terrific weekend so far!

I love it! You showed that frump who’s boss! Don’t you find sometimes that the most seemingly hopeless things can become great with some creativity and imagination? Well, obviously you do!

P.S. Your comment on my blog has me craving poutine!
