Donor’s remorse is even worse than buyer’s remorse

I rummage through my closet during spring cleaning (and summer cleaning and fall cleaning and winter cleaning) and donate the pieces I no longer wear to charity. But sometimes — very rarely — I go overboard and donate something I wasn’t quite ready to part with.

Like this oversized blazer. Which I thought I had given to charity. Until, while rummaging through my sister’s closet, I discovered I had actually donated it to her. Which means I narrowly escaped donor’s remorse. This time.

My ladyfriend jeans and my open-toed boots, which I’m wearing as much as possible before the rain starts falling in the ‘Couv. Which is another issue entirely — the I-have-a-terrible-feeling-I-didn’t-make-the-most-of-my-summer-when-it-was-still-here remorse.

Last season I accidentally put my favourite pair of black pants in the same pile as my donate items instead of in my washing basket. I am a fool.

I always donate things im not ready to part with! I will give something I havent worn in months to my mother and she will wear it the next day and I would be like “wow.. that actually is cute with that outfit”.. and its all downhill from there hahaha

I recently moved house and in the process thought it would be a good opportunity to trim my wardrobe of any dead wood, unfortunately on this occasion I realised I was perhaps a little TOO ruthless and I constantly find myself looking for items I remember I’d given away…

I am with you 100%– I’ve been trying my hardest to get all my summer outfits in!

And I think about donor remorse every time I do a closet-season-switch. It’s like, “what if this style comes back?” or what if I need this to accessorize this outfit?” Oh the terror….

I love your belt and those open toed boots! I know what you mean, I clear out my wardrobe pretty often, and even with things I may have only worn on the rare occasion I still hold out thinking that one day there will be an outfit that I can wear it on. Hope you’re having a beautiful day dear :)

See, this rarely happens to me… because I never throw things out ;-) Ok, I almost threw out an old pair of Docs, but didn’t… and voila! They were on trend again! Love the blazer and good call donating it to you sis!

I’m the same way about summer by the way. I keep telling myself I should have spent more time outside… sigh… Hope you had a great weekend!

JUST yesterday I was freaking out, ripping through my closet thinking I had donated one of my favorite satchels. Lo and behold, it’s in our storage unit.

I tend to never be able to get rid of anything because I always see some potential for it. But too many times I’ve been so disappointed by realizing I’d given a favorite item away.

    Love the outfit!
