there are people in my life who love vintage shopping as much as I do. Yes, there are those who just don’t have the patience to wade through the rough in order to find the diamonds.
But my sister, thank heavens, is on Team Vintage.
She, like me, mixes the old (her bag) with the new (her Banana Republic dress). And, come to think of it, she tends to stick to jewel tones too.
On an unrelated (but funny) note, she bought her headband because it reminded her of Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko.
But a quality shopping buddy is so key. Who else is going to spot the black leather skirt that would be perfect on you?

Love the purse!
OMG! It must be in the genes you both are sooo Fashionably Fabulous !
hey babes.. i love the vintage jewels you have. they are absolutely beautiful!!
Ahh a good shopping buddy is hard to find! Where do you go for vintage finds?
Can I ask where you get your tailoring done? I’ve been looking for a good tailor in Vancouver.
The bag looks fab….
I’m doing my best to be on Team Vintage, ok? ;-) But thankfully my shopping buddies are miserable vintage shoppers as well, so we console each other by spending time in other stores. Love your sis’ headband – I think her motivation for getting it is hilarious!
Oh my! How flattering!
I may add, that I was about to go to Ukraine when I bought that headband, I was doing so much research and kept coming across Yulia, I love how she is such an important political figure, yet she always has that massive braid across her head.
I currently have 3 items with Susan to get altered, I’m worried I didn’t go short enough on a few!
That bag goes everywhere with me, my friend Alexa has tried to steal it on a few occasions, but it’s well guarded.
[…] By Larissa My sister has featured me on her blog, Thanks […]
i went thrifting recently !!!
ilove to thrift .there is nothing better . im serious nothing makes m e happier
I so love this post. I’m still searching for the perfect shopping partner. Count your lucky stars that you’re related to yours – and that she’s a pro at finding black leather skirts! :)
Tales — the purse is sssssnake skin.
Gerri — it’s true. She’s fashionably fabulous.
Style — thanks! My sis and I both collect vintage jewelry.
MizzJ — For vintage finds I’ll go to Deluxe Junk in gastown, F as in Frank on Main and Broadway, Burcu’s Angels on 16th, and if I’ve got a bit of time to hunt for treasures, Value Village (which is where I tend to buy in bulk).
Connie — for simple hemming and whatnot I go to Susan’s Alterations on Main Street, but for anything that requires true tailoring, I’d go to Oakridge Tailors on Cambie.
Sofia — I love the bag too. I wish I found it myself (that’s the only danger of thrifting with a buddy — there’s only one of everything so the finder is the keeper).
Haute — Does that make you the captain of Team Non-vintage?
Rissa — you can always go shorter with the hemming, but you can’t go longer. It’s probably better that you’ve been cautious.
Nadia — it’s amazing when you find incredible pieces, isn’t it?
Cafe — I hope you find that special person willing to push a shopping cart around Value Village with you.
I think I really need a friend to go vintage shopping with b/c without one, I’m like HauteWorld – I may just jet out of there. I’m also trying hard for Team vintage- i even went into Legends today after my trip at Vincent park. Alas, nothing though.
I’m totally crazy about Larissa’s headband – that rules.
I did spot a cream coloured chanel vintage purse on shopbop, but even at vintage price, it costs $2600! I can dream…
Hello Hello! Thanks SO much for your darling comment about my pictures. By the way, I love the last photo… It looks like a lady in one of those shows showing a ‘major sale’ where the women crash the department store to get as many items as they can.
