Works in progress

So I bought a pair of Levi’s at a thrift store with the intention of turning them into cut-off shorts.

But then I started thinking about the people who destroy their jeans to make them their own.

atlantis-home-jeans

Like the paint-splattered 501’s on Atlantis Home.

room907-apc-denim

And the APC New Standards that were dipped in the ocean and dragged through the sand on Room 907.

bookshelf-before

So I figured I’d wear my jeans as I made over this hand-me-down bookshelf.

craftsman-sander

I sanded down both (the bookshelf because I had to, the jeans because I wanted to).

And covered them in paint. Which was fun.

ray-ban

Wore my man-tastic new Ray-Bans, which replaced the beloved Prada sunglasses Leroy destroyed.

paint-pants

The paint’s drying right now, but as soon as it’s done I’ll post photos of both works (masterpieces? Fingers crossed).

I kind of love that you worked in these jeans instead of choosing to just use scissors and shred them like so many others do. So much more unique! Looking forward to seeing the final results! Hope you’re enjoying your extended weekend so far :)

haha. Funny. I have a pair in the to-do pile which I had planned to do the exact same thing. I’m torn between keeping the length, loosing the legs, and everything in between. I can’t wait to see the results. Hurry up so I don’t have to make the same mistakes. just kidding!!

OMG! The jeans are fabulous but those soles are exquisitely a must-have ! I luv the color, the style, the heel, everything!!! p.s. Your nail color is such a lovely contrast too!

Cool. I like how you sanded them etc. rather than just slicing them up with scissors.

Lisa — I can’t wait to see the results either. I’m not going to lie to you, I’m a little nervous about how they’ll turn out.

Haute — Thanks! I wish every weekend were a long one.

Tanya — distressed jeans seem to tell more of a story than brand spankin’ new ones, don’t they?

Sofiasophie, Cafe and CC — thanks for the kind words of encouragement as I venture into the world of DIY-ing.

Beezie — fingers crossed your ironing advice pans out.

Gerri and Jac — I wish those were my shoes, but they’re not (neither are the jeans from Room 907). Click on the link below the pic to see tons more outrageously beautiful clothes and footwear.

Meg — my ma just told me the sander I used was actually my grandpa’s from the 50’s. How cool is that?

Ambika — I’ll post the results tonight!
