Istanbul still has my heart

I remember learning about the Hagia Sophia in Art History.

And I use the term “learning” lightly.

Because I really don’t remember anything I was taught about it.

But I do remember looking at a photo of Istanbul’s skyline with the domes of its roof jutting out.

And I remember thinking how incredible it would be to see a city with such  a remarkable history.

Such ornate beauty.

It feels nice to scratch something off my bucket list.

How beautiful and inspiring. it’s amazing to be surrounded by that kind of history.

I’m so interested in art history – want to take some classes or something on it in the future.

Quelle and Gerri — isn’t it interesting what makes an impression on you? I remember getting chills when I saw Gericault’s Raft of the Medusa in person. And it was all from what I learned in Art History.

Liv — you should just wait until you retire and then go back to school and be one of those mature students who sits in the front row and raises your hand to ask a question every two minutes :)

[…] My rings ‘n things, on the other hand, are from different parts of the world — the top two bracelets are vintage, the bottom one is from Milan (thank you, Briony!) and my giant ring is from Istanbul. […]
